About

Established in the summer of 2009, Pick and Pop is written from the view point of two former high school basketball teammates who are enamored with sports. We strive to give you solid yet humorous analysis that you will hopefully share with your friends so that we can somehow make out financially in this unforgiving market.

A little about us:

Colin Donohue is currently a professor at Elon University who also serves as the coordinator of student media. He earned his B.A. in journalism there as well, and afterwards he went out and got some real world experience as a correspondent at the Burlington Times-News, and later on worked for the Memphis Commercial-Appealprior to re-joining the Phoenix as faculty. For better or worse (in the case of the Wizards and Redskins, worse), Donohue is a diehard fan of professional D.C. franchises.

Justin Cherot is a 2010 graduate of Towson University and has a degree in mass communications with a journalism and new media concentration. He spent some time working as an intern with the Baltimore Sun in their sports’ department, and has maintained a strong blogosphere/social media presence for the past decade. Presently, he works in the home improvement industry. Cherot is a Dallas Maverick fanatic and apologizes for any long-winded rants that may periodically pop up.

If you’re reading this, either you’re a family member, a friend, a sports junkie or someone who Googled us thinking it was porn. Regardless, we promise to deliver the goods constantly.  Basketball, football, baseball, hockey … whatever your pleasure, we’ll write it.

Hit us at the e-mail for questions, suggestions, diss lyrics, you name it.

  1. I was searching for a photograph of Julius Erving and Larry Bird’s famous choke and somehow stumbled upon your site with the photo. Do you have any idea where I could find a copy of this so I can frame it up for my boyfriend?!
